BOSS Cubez partners with the City of Santa Barbara to turn a vacant parking lot into a 40-unit interim housing community featuring private rooms, offices, a dining hall, and shared spaces. Designed to match Santa Barbara’s traditional architecture, the site serves as the region’s first interim supportive housing community delivered with DignityMoves. Its ongoing success drives the county to expand and replicate this dignified, rapid-delivery housing model.
The City of Santa Barbara partners with BOSS Cubez to create a 40-unit interim housing community for individuals experiencing homelessness. A once-vacant parking lot is transformed into an inviting, unobtrusive neighborhood featuring 33 private rooms, three offices, a dining hall, and shared common areas. BOSS Cubez designs each structure to reflect Santa Barbara’s traditional architectural style, ensuring the community blends seamlessly into its surroundings. As the first interim supportive housing site developed by DignityMoves and the County of Santa Barbara, the project sets a new regional standard. In the wake of COVID-19, the urgent need for non-congregate shelter pushes the city to pursue solutions that can be delivered quickly and affordably. The community provides residents with privacy, on-site services, and a dignified environment that supports stability and rebuilding. Its success continues to inspire expansion, with the County Board of Supervisors pursuing additional communities modeled after this site.
“Overall we had an amazing experience working with BOSS, all questions were addressed, and delivery deadline was met to avoid any delays with our project deadline. BOSS provided a relatively seamless process with very detailed direction in regard to assembly of the units. Products are of very high quality and really have provided a great housing solution alternative for our residents.”
— Bernardo Navarrete, City of Baldwin Park
“Our streets have literally become the waiting room for housing, I think this is a real game changer.”
— Elizabeth Funk, Founder of DignityMoves
“The BOSS system has been intelligently and strategically designed so the site assembly was remarkably simple. This led to a great balance between on site construction, organization and manufacturing expertise in this project.”
