33 Gough

San Francisco, California
Opened: June 2022 | Capacity: 84 Residents

33 Gough is a 70-room interim supportive housing community in San Francisco, created through a partnership with DignityMoves, Tipping Point, and the City of San Francisco. The site transforms a former tent encampment into private, fully furnished rooms with access to dining, offices, community spaces, and supportive services. By providing safety, dignity, and on-site support, 33 Gough enables residents to stabilize their lives and move toward permanent housing.

Opened in 2022 through a partnership between DignityMoves, Tipping Point, and the City of San Francisco, 33 Gough demonstrates how interim supportive housing can provide safe, dignified, and cost-effective solutions for individuals experiencing homelessness. Originally a philanthropic demonstration, the site has proven its value, earning support from neighbors, city leaders, and community partners. Located in the South of Market neighborhood, 33 Gough provides 70 private rooms, each furnished with a bed, desk, heating, a window, and a locking door. The community includes case manager offices, dining and community spaces, a computer lab, meeting rooms, a pet area, gardens, and ample storage, creating a full-service environment that supports residents’ stability. The site transforms a former 44-tent sleeping area into a thoughtfully designed interim housing community with private bedrooms, communal bathrooms and showers, offices, and shared facilities. Residents experience the safety and dignity of private space while accessing on-site services that help them move toward permanent housing. 33 Gough serves as a model for how well-designed interim supportive housing can provide immediate impact and long-term outcomes for vulnerable populations.

“Overall we had an amazing experience working with BOSS, all questions were addressed, and delivery deadline was met to avoid any delays with our project deadline. BOSS provided a relatively seamless process with very detailed direction in regard to assembly of the units. Products are of very high quality and really have provided a great housing solution alternative for our residents.”

— Bernardo Navarrete, City of Baldwin Park

“Our streets have literally become the waiting room for housing, I think this is a real game changer.”

— Elizabeth Funk, Founder of DignityMoves

“The BOSS system has been intelligently and strategically designed so the site assembly was remarkably simple. This led to a great balance between on site construction, organization and manufacturing expertise in this project.”

— Michael Waters, Swinerton Builders
