The Cherry Avenue Interim Housing Community in San José is a collaborative effort between DignityMoves, the City of San José, the Santa Clara Valley Water District, and HomeFirst to provide safe, dignified housing for individuals experiencing street homelessness. The site includes 130 private BOSS Cubez units, offering residents a secure space along with on-site services that support stabilization, healing, and progress toward permanent housing. Designed to serve 135 residents at a time, the community has the potential to help more than 2,000 people over the next decade. Local leaders, including Mayor Matt Mahan and Vice Mayor Pam Foley, celebrate the project as a model for how cities can urgently expand dignified shelter options. The village features private rooms paired with case management, meals, and supportive services that address the complex needs of residents transitioning off the streets. BOSS is proud to supply the durable, functional, rapidly deployable housing that makes this community possible. Cherry Avenue stands as a powerful example of what can be achieved when cities, nonprofits, and mission-driven partners work together to create meaningful solutions to homelessness.
“Overall we had an amazing experience working with BOSS, all questions were addressed, and delivery deadline was met to avoid any delays with our project deadline. BOSS provided a relatively seamless process with very detailed direction in regard to assembly of the units. Products are of very high quality and really have provided a great housing solution alternative for our residents.”
— Bernardo Navarrete, City of Baldwin Park
“Our streets have literally become the waiting room for housing, I think this is a real game changer.”
— Elizabeth Funk, Founder of DignityMoves
“The BOSS system has been intelligently and strategically designed so the site assembly was remarkably simple. This led to a great balance between on site construction, organization and manufacturing expertise in this project.”
